Featured Family Events in May

May 2018

Spring
The lakeshore communities of West Michigan do a fantastic job of hosting events and activities that include the whole family. There's so much happening that is geared specifically toward kids and families as a whole, and that's part of what makes being here so amazing!

Every season in West Michigan has it's unique, fun things to do for kids of all ages- from babies up to the "young at heart". Indoors or outdoors, no matter the time of year, there's always something great going on along the lakeshore for families to experience together!

In addition to the following list, check out the events happening throughout the month at Sandcastles Children's Museum and the Ludington and Scottville branches of the Mason County District Libraries!

Friday, May 18th-Sunday, May 20th


Blessing of the Bikes at the Baldwin Airport.


Friday, May 18th, 6pm


Amazing Grace Race Fun Run & 5k at the Ludington State Park to benefit Covenant Christian and Ludington Area Catholic Schools.


Saturday, May 19th


West Michigan Old Engine Club Tractor Pulls. 10am- Dead Boat and 1pm- Transfer Sled at Scottville Riverside Park- 700 S. Scottville Rd.

Sunday, May 20th, 1pm


The Ludington Optimist Club Fred Slimmen Memorial Junior Golf Tournament at Lincoln Hills Golf Club- 1527 N. Lakeshore Dr. in Ludington. Cost is $10 per player, which includes lunch, a bucket of balls and one round of golf. Out-of-area players must pay a $50 at-large fee. Register by Saturday, May 12th for lunch to be guaranteed. Lower Division is boys ages 10 to 13 and girls ages 10 to 14. Upper Division is boys ages 14 to 18 and girls ages 15 to 18. Open House at District Health Department #10- 916 Diana St. in Ludington. Food, prizes, and activities.


Friday, May 25th


10am-5pm - Ludington North Breakwater Lighthouse opens for the season.

5-8pm - Big Daddy Fox performs at Shagway Arts Barn- 5949 Shagway Rd. in Ludington. $5 cover charge, children 12 and under free.

10am-5pm - West Michigan Old Engine Club Antique Tractor Pull at Scottville Riverside Park- 700 S. Scottville Rd.

12pm-9pm - Ludington Area Jaycees Mini Golf Course- at Stearns Park in Ludington opens for the season.

1pm & 3:30pm - Manistee Saints Baseball vs. Michigan Senior Braves at Rietz Park- 90 Park Ave. in Manistee.

5-8pm - Brad Lee performs at Shagway Arts Barn- 5949 Shagway Rd. in Ludington. $5 cover charge, children 12 and under free.

8am-12pm - Pentwater Boy Scouts Troop 1145 Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser at the Pentwater VFW Hall- 8440 N. Business 31.

1pm & 3:30pm - Manistee Saints Baseball vs. Michigan Senior Braves at Rietz Park- 90 Park Ave. in Manistee.

Sunset - Pentwater Movies on the Green on the Village Green.


Monday, May 28th


Pentwater Memorial Day Parade through downtown. Line up is at 9:30am on First St. with step off at 10am. Services to follow at the Pentwater Municipal Marina, Village Green, and Pentwater Cemetery.
